First-Quarter GDP Shows 0.6% Gain

The U.S. economy grew at a 0.6 % annual rate in the first quarter, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.
The increase in the gross domestic product was higher than economists’ projections of a 0.5% gain, Bloomberg reported.
The economy would have contracted if not for an increase in inventories that was likely caused by a slowdown in sales, Bloomberg said.
